The July 4 holiday and Copa America games played at NRG Stadium drove up passenger traffic at Houston's airports during the first weeks of July.

Meals, showers and charging stations are among the resources available to Houston Airports employees impacted by the Category 1 storm.

Houston Airports is resuming operations at Bush and Hobby airports. Airport personnel are among the millions who are managing power outages, debris cleanup and limited cell service after Hurricane Beryl.

Airline travel waivers are in effect, including flights on July 9, which allows Houstonians to defer travel to a future date. Travel to the airports is still hazardous.

2.8 million people boarded planes at Houston's airports in May, setting a new record for passenger enplanements. Forecasts show that May is just the start of a historic summer in a record-making year. 

“We have greatly improved traffic backups during off-peak hours,” said Bobby Miller with Houston Airports. “This policy shift allows us to deliver a world-class experience by prohibiting traffic from building up simply because vehicles are parked and waiting for passengers along the curb."

Houston Airports is ready to welcome nearly two million holiday travelers beginning June 29. The Independence Day crowds are forecasted to be 8% more than passenger totals in 2023. 

The cashless parking system aims to make the parking experience at Houston Airports garages and ecoPark lots quicker, safer and more environmentally friendly for customers.

Hobby Airport remains the first and only 5-Star Skytrax-rated airport in North America for a third consecutive year. As construction of a new international terminal moves forward at Bush, the airport has maintained its level of world-class service to hold on to a 4-Star Skytrax rating for seven consecutive years.

The busy travel day on June 6  is an early indication of a record-setting summer. Houston Airports anticipates that 19 million people will travel through Bush or Hobby airports between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
