When severe weather forces delays of airport operations
Houston Airports understands how frustrating these unexpected delays can be for you, your family and our own operations team. We invite you to grab a bite to eat, fill up your water bottle and enjoy our complimentary Wi-Fi as we all wait for the storm to pass.

Storms can impact an airport just like weather can delay an outdoor sporting event. When severe weather, like lightning, is detected around Bush Airport or Hobby Airport, personnel working outside must seek shelter indoors until the lightning threat has passed.
Inclement weather delays airport operations, like the physical process of removing luggage from an airplane and transferring it to baggage claim for passengers to receive. Please know that your airline is working as fast as possible, within FAA safety guidelines, to get your bags back in your hands so you can continue your day.
Houston Airports understands how frustrating these unexpected delays can be for you, your family, and our operations team. That’s why we promise to deliver to our guests a 5-star airport experience that showcases world-class service, modern facilities, and uniquely "Houston-friendly” hospitality.
We encourage you to enjoy one of the largest collections of public art in the state of Texas. Throughout our airports, you’ll find everything from sculptures to photographs created predominantly by Texas-based artists. Be sure to check out our current schedule of live musical performances through our award-winning Harmony in the Air program at Bush and Hobby airports.
We invite you to grab a bite to eat, fill up your water bottle and enjoy our complimentary Wi-Fi as we all wait for the storm to pass.

If you are picking up passengers
When severe weather hits, we ask drivers who pick up and drop off passengers to avoid terminal curbsides until weather conditions improve. This will reduce congestion and facilitate vehicle circulation in the Central Terminal Area. If you pick up passengers during severe weather, please drive to the cell phone lots and wait until your passengers are at the curbside with their bags.
