Darryl Daniel is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Houston Airports.
Daniel is responsible for:
- Maintaining the integrity of technology infrastructure, networks and applications supporting George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) and Ellington Airport (EFD)/Houston Spaceport.
- Leading the Communications Technology, Technology Infrastructure, Applications and Support, IT Security and Technology Project Management Office (PMO) sections.
- Developing and aligning technology vision with business strategy.
Previously, Daniel led the design teams at Burns Engineering, Inc. where he was responsible for all technology elements on major airport terminal programs including: the Terminal Modernization Program at Pittsburgh International Airport; Mickey Leland International Terminal Program at IAH; and served as the owner’s representative with oversight of design build technology components for Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal One Program. He was also the project executive for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s (DFW) Security Master Plan Development and was responsible for recruitment, development and retention of in-house aviation design team members. Before his work at Burns, Daniel served as a managing consultant at AviDel Consulting for HAS who was responsible for planning and implementing complex technology projects, which included: development and implementation of pilot and post-pilot production biometric (facial recognition) queue monitoring at IAH and HOU; $28 million Advanced Surveillance Program Free Public Wi-Fi rollout at IAH and HOU; migration of the Public Address Platform at IAH and HOU; and the upgrade of the access control and surveillance systems at IAH and HOU.
Daniel earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M’s College of Engineering. He’s also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a licensed commercial pilot.
Daniel is a certified U.S. sailing instructor and volunteers his spare time with the Girl Scout Mariner Program teaching sailing on Galveston Bay. He also is an avid hiker with treks in multiple states.
