HOUSTON — Hundreds of heroes — military veterans who suffered injuries during combat — will land at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Thursday, May 19, 2016, before heading off for a fun weekend of fishing and celebration of their service during Warriors Weekend X, May 19-22.
The public is invited to the airport to salute the motorcade that will take more than 500 veterans to Victoria for a celebration dinner on May 19, and then on to Port O’Connor for a weekend fishing tournament.
The public can acknowledge the veterans as they load into the buses at Terminal D. A public procession is scheduled at1:20 p.m., led by Houston Police captains Gregory Fremin and Glenn York. Parking is available in the Terminal D/E paid parking garage.
Anyone interested in seeing and acknowledging the parade of 10 buses is asked to come to the grass lot just south of the Houston Airport System administration building, located at 19630 John F. Kennedy Blvd., by 1:30 p.m. Houston Police officers will be on hand to assist with parking and to direct anyone wanting to wave to the buses or display banners in support to the route along Rankin Road.
