Houston Airports proudly announces that its first two participants of the award-winning Artist in Residence Program (AIR), Mathieu Jean Baptiste and Jaymes Earl, have been featured in the esteemed 2024 Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The exhibition, inaugurated on January 15, 2024, in commemoration of Martin Luther King Day, marks a significant milestone for these talented artists and underscores the success of the innovative Artist In Residence (AIR) program at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU).

The Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition has stood as the nation's premier showcase of African American art for the last 50 years. Mathieu Jean Baptiste and Jaymes Earl, who helped Houston Airports launch its Artist in Residence Program in September 2022, join a distinguished list of artists featured in this historically significant exhibition.

The AIR program, now in its second year at Houston Airports, plays a vital role in promoting and supporting local artists. By providing a platform for artists to showcase their work to thousands of passengers daily at Bush and Hobby airports, the program contributes to the flourishing artistic community in Houston. "Houston Airports strives to include a diverse mix of local artists in its award-winning Artist in Residence Program,” said Alton DuLaney, Curator of Public Art for Houston Airports. “Houston Airports believes in fostering a vibrant and inclusive artistic community that reflects the rich cultural tapestry of Houston."
