Houston Airports Launch New Newsletter Name and Design

Connections will give you the lastest information about Houston Airports.

July 7, 2016

The Houston Airport System launched an updated newsletter today. The newsletter also landed an official name. “Connections” aims to bring passengers and stakeholders all the latest news surrounding Houston Airports.

“The airport system recently launched a reimagined website focused exclusively on the customer experience, and we want our newsletter to match that cutting edge look and feel,” said Chief External Affairs Officer Saba Abashawl. “Our new approach will feature stories of interest to our passengers and stakeholders including new airline activity, customer enhancements and travel notices as well as updates on new partnerships that enhance our route connectivity, customer experience and processes."

The airport reached out to employees to help name the newsletter and received more than 100 entries. “Connections” was chosen by the selection committee because it exemplified Houston Airports’ position as a global gateway. Over the past three years, George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) has added 10 new international airlines and expanded routes from existing airlines. Southwest Airlines launched nonstop service to nine new international destinations from William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) last year. Houston is the only city in North America with nonstop service to all inhabitable continental regions and one of only a few cities in the nation with two international airports. The newletter's name reflects that activity.

The Houston Airport System tapped Mouth Watering Media for the redesign.

“The redesigned newsletter is more visually appealing and easier to read and follow. We are now able to implement more visuals to truly give our readers an inside look into happenings at our airports,” said Katena Carvajales, public relations manager and newsletter editor for the Houston Airport System. “We are also using a new platform that will allow us to better gauge reader interest to ensure we are including stories that are important to our customers and stakeholders.”
