Houston Airports Joins the MLB World Series Action: Go 'Stros!
November 9, 2017

The Houston Astros “Earned History” and successfully defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers for the team’s first World Series title in its 56-year history.

The series went all seven games with games three, four and five being held in Houston. To let visitors know that this was “Astros territory,” the airports included signage in and around the terminals and even the parking areas and the welcome monuments were lit up in “Astros orange.” A specially produced message was created and displayed on televisions in most of the gate hold areas. See video here.

Airport staff at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) teamed up with United Airlines, the official air carrier for the Houston Astros Baseball Club, to welcome the team’s arrival back to Houston after their win. A crowd of adoring fans greeted the team at their homecoming, which was complete with a water cannon salute. The audience included airline and airport employees as well as elected officials.

It truly was a historic moment, Go ‘Stros!
