Houston Airports Debuts New Float at Houston Rodeo Parade
March 12, 2019

Houston Airports has particiated in the Houston Rodeo's annual parade for the last three years. In recognition of the 50th Anniversary of Bush Airport, the airport system debuted a new float that celebrates the three Houston Airport System airports — George Bush Intercontinental Airport, William P. Hobby Airport, and Ellington Airport, home to the Houston Spaceport — and the roles they play in making Houston a growing global gateway. The new float was escorted by the Airport Rangers, a volunteer mounted patrol equestrian group that assists in securing the perimeter of the 13,000 acres of George Bush Intercontinental Airport, including wooded trails. The 50th anniversary celebration for Bush Airport in 2019 will kick into high gear on March 23, 2019, when the IAH Fest Community Celebration is held at Houston’s largest Airport. The event features live music, free food, and fun activities such as aircraft displays, games and a special birthday cake honoring 50 years of growth at Bush Airport. The annual parade celebrates Western heritage and marks the beginning of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo season, a tradition since 1938.
